Too bad he didn't ask E.T. if he would ever return.

I have to admit, that no movies last part ever has made me cry so hard as the moment E.T leaves. They made it really touching, seriously.

Also symbolic (maybe intentional on Spielberg`s part?): @ 5:37 ET puts a perfect sentence together, complete with contraction, signifying that his message was to the heart, not to the head. Language, and the spectacle of him speaking it, would have gotten in the way. But to realize all this it is necessary to know he had the intelligence to talk. Brilliant stroke.

This is so great. The commonplace is of course to present extra terrestrial life as the advanced intelligence. To invent an ET superior in love and feeling--bringing his message "to babes", intelligence a slave to love and imagination--was a real work of art...maybe a work of genius.

Lol I notice E.T. looks sort of like Albert Einstein. Good classic movie.
