I'm not your typical tourist. I found something very dark in the city of lights and this just fit right in. The only similar experience I had was in your country, in new orleans (pre- Katrina). Jeez, I was in Convocation hall and apparently it doesn't exist anymore. It makes me want to cry. Sure, it was a tourist spot, but there was some really good music there, too and the venue was just wonderful. They'll find another locale, I'm sure. The muscial variety is great in your country, too!

What a wonderful voice and such a great lyracist. This reminds me of being in the darkest parts of Paris ,not knowing how you're going to get home, but not caring because the music is simply too wonderful. Wish Waits was more appreciated in North America. Love the guy.

Oh God, what would I give to go back in time and see Tom Waits perform in his youth.

Well, at least you admit your limitations, WhiteOak. I give you kudos for that.
But, being as you have yourself admitted to being a tasteless moron; I don't suppose you could now leave?

to darklydreamt: Check out Howlin' Wolf's Smokestack Lightning... Maybe its a little too "Pop Tart" for ya. But thats a wonderful vocal growl.
WhiteOak79 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
To darklydreamt: "Pop tart taste"? You're right, John Lee, Muddy,B.B.,The Holding Comp,Donovan... those are all pop tart. I like all music, Hooker invented the growl that you love so much in Waits. I love John Lee Hooker, so I thought I would check out Tom Waits. I was'nt impressed by THIS performance. Sorry I don't have "Taste & Intelligence" like you. |
