did Willie also go after the Small Faces, because it seems Steve Marriott sang it before Led Zeppelin

IMHO, if George Harrison got done for My Sweet Lord as a rip of He's So Fine, that was a lot more abstract than grabbing the central lyric here. It's blatant. That said, I like Zep and I like there version, but there is something so gritty and real about this that it's totally compelling. Support those who support theirs, the Bonnie Raitts, Ry Cooders and Claptons who present the artists who inspired them when they can. Thanks to Bonnie I saw Big Mama Thornton & for that I'm grateful.

It's blatant institutional racism that created a world where us American white kids had to discover American music through white English rockers. Someone said Dixon should thank Zep, but in reality if it wasn't for guys like him, Muddy, T-Bone, Buddy, Robert Johnson, tons of others, you wouldn't have had Led Zep, Cream, Stones, etc. All these blues guys should have gotten paid when the cop was this blatant. Clapton paid Johnson's estate back royalties and did so gladly. I respect him for that.

And BTW, I should mention that I think LZ's version is far superior.

Well as much as I love Led Zeppelin I think really I must admit that they do seem to push their luck with the similarities on this occasion. But I always viewed it as more of a naive homage to one of their heroes rather than malicious stealing, I mean Robert was only 20 at the time of recording, but hey I'm obviously biased since I really love their music.
