Yes, but the only military tactic they used was the Phalanx (They don't do it in 300) and by Caesar's time that tactic became obsolete, fighting skill cannot save a bad tactic.

That's not true at all. Historically, the Spartans are regarded as the fiercest warrior culture ever produced by men. The entire male inventory was born and bred to fight -- and to die.

But 300 stood their ground to the last man is the testament and the Glory of Sparta ! Actually, in reality, they were 5-11000 against 200000, but only 300 of them were spartan, yes.
