Removing The Stigma of Mental Illness

IN ORDER TO READ THE WORDS MORE CLEARLY, PLEASE WATCH IN HIGH QUALITY MODE. It is human nature to fear what we don't understand. Due to misunderstandings and inaccuracies made by the media,(everything from news reports to movies for example) our society's view has been distorted, which has created stigma about certain mental illnesses. DEFINITION OF STIGMA: a mark of disgrace or infamy; a stain or reproach, as on one's reputation. Bottom line is that we all must get more educated and stop using our fears as excuses. My opinions are based on the more positive side of things. But isn't that what life is about for all humans? Our lives based on our own opinions and beliefs? Have a wonderful day DLM and thank you for your comment.

Hello DLM, I am sorry that you thought that featuring Vincents' paintings (with the music I chose) was the same as equaling it to beautiful music showing a mushroom cloud! His paintings ARE beautiful, put together with music which has alot of meaning... I felt it was VERY suiting. Back then, if the stigma was removed and more education was available, his life would have not ended like it did.

Thank you for this lifestarmedic1. I count it a privilege to include this in my blog 70 Plus and Still Kicking. Our family knows about mental illness and I work as a volunteer in spreading information about stigma et al, and trying to help carers and families understand. In gratitude June in Oz
