I gotta say I couldnt avoid laughing a little seeing this guy. He looks funny, especially by starting off his speech with a dry throat

been reading some of the comments, think some of them may be off topic.
a question to yuttadhammo if i may.
although it is clear that to be able to disassociate with one's body and thoughts are
clearly increasing the level of self awareness and consciousness.
one may accuse yuttadhammo's views of the transient nature of the world are defeatist and smacks of escapism.
Why not, with a clearer mind, be more effective in shaping the world into a better place for posterity ?

Being awareness, basically. Being aware that thought is occuring, being aware "at" the thought. I like the way you describe awareness as thinking "rising" "falling" AT the stomach. AT the object of perceiption. That is a very helpful way of putting it. The same is true of a thought. Being aware of a thought as a thought sort of "cancels it out" so to speak. You perceive it as a thought, not an elaborate mental construct. Great job with clairification of those topics.

Dude, let's just stop this, because at this point, I don't give a crap anymore, despite my tenacity.

bringing up my religion or yours in an objective argument should be unnecessary. if you have evidence for any of your claims, please cite them, whether you are getting them from verses in the bible or quran

Before I go any further, are you Muslim?
UltimateBlahman (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
where does it say that Ezra had to rewrite it from memory? that's totally false.
i've studied a bunch of religions and islam needs credit for at least maintaining the original text

There would be bound to be at least one since it says Ezra had to rewrite it from memory as it says. So 2 choices. It could have mistakes somewhere, or it's a fable like Jhonas and the Whale.

well as far as any historian knows, they ARE the original words. and it was written during Mohammad's time so the chance that a mistake was made as compared to, let's say, the bible, is very small.
besides how would you know if there are mistakes in it or not? you dont seem to be any sort of religious scholar... |
