Personally i think the song is quite beautiful...his raspy voice gives it a new feeling...i know that its different than tom petty but everything changes constantly...he did a beautiful job and i think that if you didnt like it so much then you wouldve never looked it up and listened to up...but everyone has a right to their opinion

john mayer did a good job on this cover but i like tom's original better. yes mayer put his own spin on it and the song is still amazing but tom had an up lifting feel to it. but like i said still an amazing cover
