Even if this game is a piece of shit, it was still an inspiration in a sense.
After all, Symphony of the Night went back to the whole RPG-style exploration theme and perfected where Simon's Quest failed. And that in itself insipred awesome future games like Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia (which also referenced the morning sun vanquishing the horrible night). Also, the metal band The Black Dahlia Murder actually recorded a song called "What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse".
