I'm no fan of the Bush Adminstration, but Blair tucked in right behind so we in the UK can hardly claim the moral high ground. At least in the US there is now a chance to change course, whereas here is the UK it is just a choice of more of the same or changing to the Conservatives - which is virtually no change at all. It's all quite depressing!

This ignorance goes both ways. I'm from Europe and I agree with you.
I do think there are a lot of ignorant Americans, but I also know that I can't generalize a country with so many differences. And I hope that you, and other Americans, realize that you can't generalize a continent of about 50 different countries either. There are ignorant and stupid people in both Europe and USA. But what I don't think you can deny is that your government is pretty bad. Though hopefully Obama will change that

Pt.3 However what most Europeans agree on when it comes to America is that your government is horrible. Hopefully that will change with Barack Obama as president though. But I must say that you confirm what a lot of people say about Americans: ignorant.

Pt.2: To Randy Newman: I don't know where you were in Europe, and how you define disrespect - but I do know that you would not be treated the way you describe most of the places in Europe most likely. And I wouldn't say I don't like americans, because you can't generalize a country of so many differences. And I would expect the same from you when it comes to a fucking continent with about 50 different countries.

Pt.1: I guess you can expect something more of the world leaders in the 21st century. And also your contra leader examples were not results of democracy like yours (Bush). So I guess there's more reason to complain on our side when it comes to this, in my opinion.
