The miracle and mystery of the human voice speaks of something beyond what can be touched or seen. We have so much in common, and such incredible perfection should remind us of what our mutual aspirations are and what unites us, wherever we live in the world, whether catholic, protestant, jew or muslim we are all aspiring to that divine space of peace and love. Thank you.

Really? I thought the song was about Mary, who the rose is supposed to symbolize.

Those types of comments John only confirm your own bigotry and lack of true knowledge regarding the LDS faith. Try doing research outside the anti-mormon resources that are out there.

They don't have to lack musical talent to be creepy. To me they represent a racist, homophobic, sexist cult, which is more than enough to justify the creepy feeling I get when I see or hear them.
Mormons believe the euphoric feelings that music can elicit to be a testament to the quack message they are selling.

Ok, John, nevermind you are ruining the moment of the video, let's see if you have done your homework...what "equally absurd stories in the Book of Mormon" have you found?
johnPhilos (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
SWSimpson, If you had read the the christian bible along with your Book of Mormon, you would know that there is a story of a talking bush. Of course there are equally absurd stories in the Book of Mormon.

Let's see, mormonism resisted the civil rights movement, women rights, and now they are spending millions of dollars in california to strip gays of their right to marry. That looks a lot like bigotry to me.

it wasn't a "bush," you are being ridiculous. Interesting choice of words you use- to say that you "hate" - I already knew that you hate- it shows. Mormonism is far from a hateful religion, they were a persecuted people. I lived in the Bible Belt, so I know hatred and bigotry. I'm not even LDS, but I respect them and I know good music when I hear it. When a Baptist/Pentecostal minister misleads his congregation by telling them Mormons worship satan, that is hateful and bigoted.

Moses was talking to a bush--he was nuts! or a liar. FWIW, I actually like the motab. My cousin is one of the singers. I just don't like the hate and bigotry mormonism represents.

Sounds to me like a bit of animosity for some reason because there isn't a respectable music critic in the world that would agree with you. They have won countless awards, are world renowned, have performed for presidents and kings, and the United States sent them to represented the United States as a gift to Australia for their centennial celebration a few years back. The lyrics of the song tell of a rose in bloom at Jesus' birth- it doesn't bloom in December- maybe that's your gripe? |
