Belief in sky-daddies(or other gods/supernatural beings) are exhibiting a delusional disorder. In this case, mass delusion. The prognosis or chance of recovery from this disorder is largely related to the level of conviction regarding the delusions and the openness the person has for allowing information that contradicts the delusion.
The stronger your conviction and the inability to listen to evidence, your chances are slim for leaving the delusion.

theres a big difference between RELIGION and SPIRITUALITY
just because religion is fake doesnt mean there isnt a greater divine power.

Secularism rules.

The problem is some people need to be in groups, so that's a sweeter transition for a religious family they have lost.

For your sake, you might want to disengage from arguing with ggcage. As you can tell, he's not giving an inch in this argument because he won't play by the rules. In his mind, his case is perfect, so there's no point in arguing with him. I read this quote somewhere, and I think it's brilliant: Never try to argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. As much as what you say is music to my ears, don't let this vortex of idiocy waste your time.

What is the matter with you? Do you have a compulsion to impose your beliefs onto others, or are you just doing what you've been told? Have you considered that maybe I don't want a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? For one thing, I can't because I don't believe Jesus was the son of God, nor do I believe that God even exists. I'm not trying to not believe in God. I can't help it. There's just no way I can talk myself into believing in the supernatural. I'm too skeptical for that. |
