Toyota's robot violinist has 17 computer-controlled joints in its arms and fingers, which allow it to hold the violin, gently draw the bow, and correctly press the strings against the fingerboard. In a recital held at a Toyota showroom in Tokyo on December 6, the 152-centimeter (5-ft) tall humanoid entertained guests with a rendition of "Pomp and Circumstance."

I will not consider these robots to be worth the price tag until they come out with a robot: 1.) with the full range of motion that a human has 2.) the intuition to use that dexterity to its full measure 3.) compensation for extenuating circumstances (ie. low battery lol)

lol uh oh. The robots are coming soon. I sense a bad future...
Laxanii (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
This type of technology is useless and will only bring the loss of musicians worldwide.

I wish they would look less like huamns.and have compleat feelings, joints, diffrent noy just like..all black eyes..more colors...*giggles* like robots from Wall-E,with art-a-fish-el in-tell-a-gents....XD.look less like human, more like ma-sh-e-na...XP.^^ just like they have a REAL life.and can do more then what they are made for.that..would be awesome.
