This incident was video recorded by Simon Lowe. 233 people where on board this jet bound for Lanzarote. The number 2 engine sucks in one bird (a crow or corvid) as the plane rotates off the runway. T.V. news reports of two herons being sucked in are wrong. Congratulations to the crew and air-traffic controllers for the calm and professional way they dealt with the situation. Please checkout more video's by me on Flightlevel350.com.

When you take off with a full payload of fuel and lose the power of an engine due to a bird entering an engine intake......its means shutting that engine down .....and the skill of a good pilot to control the aircraft ....to get it down on the ground again with the remaining engine in one piece......ex RAF groundcrew..Wittering on the Vulcan "v" bombers.......even small birds cause major problems!

wont the plane be unbalanced with one running...
everybodysgreen (August 25, 2008 at 9:48 am)

everybodysgreen (August 25, 2008 at 9:39 am)
